Housing & Rent Help

  • Florida Housing Finance Corporation

    The state housing agency; runs affordable rental programs and the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP), which funds emergency rent, utility deposit, and repair help through your city or county SHIP office. Call 850-488-4197 to find your local office.

  • FloridaHousingSearch.org

    Free statewide search tool for affordable and income-restricted apartments, including units that accept vouchers. Call 1-877-428-8844.

  • DCF Office on Homelessness

    Coordinates Florida's local homeless Continuums of Care; if you're homeless or about to be, call 2-1-1 to be connected to your area's coordinated entry for shelter and rehousing help.

  • Florida LIHEAP

    Helps pay electric and other home energy bills, with extra crisis help if you have a shut-off notice; apply through your local community action agency (find it on the FloridaCommerce LIHEAP page or call 2-1-1).

  • Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly (EHEAP)

    Utility crisis help for households with someone 60 or older facing disconnection. Call the Elder Helpline at 1-800-963-5337.

  • Weatherization Assistance Program

    Free home improvements (insulation, AC repair, sealing) that permanently lower energy bills for low-income households; apply through your local weatherization agency.

Food

  • SNAP / Food Assistance Program

    Monthly grocery money on an EBT card. Apply online at MyACCESS or call 850-300-4323.

  • Feeding Florida

    The statewide network of regional food banks; use "Find Food Now" to locate free pantries and distributions in your county.

  • Florida WIC

    Free healthy food, formula, and nutrition support for pregnant people and kids under 5. Call 1-800-342-3556.

Healthcare Coverage & Free Care

  • Florida Medicaid

    Free health coverage for children, pregnant women, seniors, and people with disabilities (Florida has not expanded to all low-income adults). Apply at MyACCESS.

  • Florida KidCare

    Free or low-cost health insurance (most families pay 20/month or nothing) for kids under 19 — Florida's CHIP program. Call 1-888-540-5437.

  • Covering Florida

    Free, federally funded navigators who help you enroll in HealthCare.gov marketplace plans and check what subsidies you qualify for. Call 877-813-9115.

  • Florida Association of Free and Charitable Clinics

    Find a free or charitable clinic near you for medical, dental, and prescription help if you're uninsured.

Mental Health & Crisis

  • 211 crisis support (Florida 211 Network)

    Florida's 211 centers are also accredited crisis lines — dial 2-1-1 any hour to talk through a mental health or suicidal crisis and get connected to local care.

  • DCF Substance Abuse and Mental Health

    The state behavioral health agency; funds Mobile Response Teams (dispatched via 988 or local lines) and no-cost treatment through regional Managing Entities for people without insurance.

  • NAMI Florida

    Free support groups, family education, and help navigating Florida's mental health system. Call 850-671-4445.

Childcare & Family

  • School Readiness child care assistance

    Florida's child care subsidy, run by your local Early Learning Coalition; apply online through the Family Portal and pay only a small co-pay while you work or study.

  • Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK)

    Free pre-K for every Florida 4-year-old, no income limit — apply through the same Early Learning Family Portal.

  • Florida Head Start Association

    Find free Head Start and Early Head Start programs (early education plus meals and family support) for babies through age 5 in your county.

Transportation & Employment

  • CareerSource Florida

    Statewide network of career centers with free job placement, resume help, and paid training; every county has a local CareerSource office.

  • Reemployment Assistance (unemployment)

    Florida's unemployment benefits — file your claim online through the Reconnect system as soon as you lose work. Call 1-833-352-7759 for help.

  • Transportation Disadvantaged Program

    State-coordinated door-to-door rides for people who can't drive or afford transportation, especially for medical appointments; call your county's community transportation coordinator or 850-410-5700.
